Supportive Planning Process

The planning approval process in Ontario is an integral part of economic development. It provides for sustainable economic development while permitting profitable private sector enterprises. This area of the action framework would see prospective new businesses or expanding businesses receive more help to navigate the various development agencies such as the City of Hamilton, the Province of Ontario, Conservation Authorities and others. The City of Hamilton will continue to develop the approval process it has already started, and will provide the development community with one-stop-shopping for development approvals, featuring predictable timetables and emphasizing collaboration. This will minimize uncertainty and build investor confidence. Similarly, the JPC should work with Provincial authorities and other approval agencies to help new and expanding businesses understand the development process and seek development approvals that result in sustainable business opportunities.
